Do You Know Your Spiritual Birthline?
In this scripture-packed series, Dr. Betters discusses regeneration, effectual calling, conversion, justification, adoption, sanctification, perseverance and glorification. Come along on this journey and find great joy in discovering many treasures in your journey along your spiritual birthline. Peter’s spiritual journey is a clear picture of a man intrigued by the Messiah, but not converted. In this message we watch as God removes Peter’s spiritual blindness. Peter’s journey helps us see our own spiritual birthlines unfold.
Does Jesus Matter to You?
Research shows that attendance at most churches is declining, especially among people aged 18 to 30. Church leadership finds itself asking, “What should the church do, if anything, to change to reach this generation that is slipping away?” I read of one example of a new church being established in this area that is changing the perspective of how Jesus is described in the Bible, to how He will be presented in their church. I want to direct this message to the question: Does Jesus Matter to You?
God Will Make a Way
For over twenty-five years Dr. Betters preached God is the builder of broken bridges and brings beauty from ashes. In this series preached not long after the death of his son, Dr. Betters does not shy away from asking the hard questions and sharing his own faith struggles to reconcile God’s love with His sovereignty.
Grapes of Wrath
There will always be a struggle between good and evil in our lives. The godly kings of Israel allowed compromise in their lives which resulted in a downward spiral through generations. The consequence of their sin is seen in their children and grandchildren. Are you willing to confess, renounce, and turn away from little areas of compromise in your life? The lives of your children and grandchildren may be at stake.
High View Of A Woman
This series I believe is needed because frankly, I think today our culture expresses a low view of womanhood. I do not claim to be an expert on womanhood, clearly I am not, but I believe the Word of God is, so it is from that context I share these messages.
Suffering: Faith on Trial
In His Grip are specific lessons made available from the ministry of Dr. Betters, known for his unapologetic, biblical and transparent preaching of the Word of God.
How will you respond when suffering invades your life? Are you prepared?
The In His Grip sermons teach about God's sovereignty, trustworthiness, and faithfulness. Dr. Betters' sermons help explain how to walk by faith in a broken world, encourage a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and proclaim that God is sovereign and can be trusted even in the broken places of life. We hope this sermon series helps you find hope, comfort, purpose, and courage to persevere faithfully in your relationship with Jesus.
Surprised by Suffering
In this very personal series preached shortly after the death of his sixteen-year-old son, Mark, Dr. Betters invites the congregation into his family grief journey. Dr. Betters acknowledges the “hell on earth” experienced by his family as he recounts the days before their son’s accident where God seemed to be preparing them for unexpected suffering. He shares specific scriptures God was using to help them get through each day of sorrow, where God promises the “hell on earth” would not last forever but after suffering “a little while” the Lord “himself will restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast”, as recorded in 1 Peter 5:10, Psalm 27. He draws attention to the questions of the Psalmist in Psalm 44 and the promise of Romans 8 that all things will come together for good for those who love Jesus. This series is a precious gift of hope in the midst of wrestling to walk by faith when suffering suddenly shatters our hearts.
Treasures of Faith
Have you ever wondered, “Is God really sovereign? And can I really trust Him?” If so, you’re in good company. During the first century, Jewish Christians were persecuted, afraid, and discouraged. Some abandoned the faith and returned to their former lifestyles. Others were sorely tempted to do so. Could God, through their faith, redeem their pain and give it meaning? Could this painful path actually help them to encourage others in their faith or to help draw unbelievers to the heart of God (2 Corinthians 2:15-17)?
When God Doesn’t Make Sense
This series was preached by Dr. Betters just six weeks after the death of his 16-year-old son Mark. Dr. Betters gives us a real, raw message as a man struggling with God, as a man wrestling with his faith. In his transparency, we see that Dr. Betters learned about himself during this time that he is not very different from the rest of us. Walking by faith is hard, especially hard when God turns our lives upside down. God is in control of all things, even during these hard and emotional times. This is when we need the strength of other believers to help us through these times, to help remind us that God is in control and HE has a greater purpose for why things are as they are.
Wisdom Breakers
Wisdom Breakers is a study of the book of James. James tells us that as long as our faith is weak and if our faith is wavering, then we can never possess wisdom. When God calls us to fulfill his purpose, HE does not rescind that calling. Often times we can distracted or sidetracked with living out our mission. My identity in Christ is directly related to weather I understand what it means to be a bond servant of Jesus Christ. This is how James identifies himself in the opening of this book. Dr. Betters is about to explain that if we understand that our identity in Christ is that we are bond servants to him, that is when we become a threat to the powers of Satan. Because then our identity is clear and we can serve the Lord to our fullest.
