Sharon Betters experienced the power of biblical encouragement in a unique way when, as the mother of four young children, she battled Stage 3 breast cancer and even more so, after the death of her sixteen-year-old son, Mark.
Sharon shares many of these treasures of encouragement through her books, Treasures of Encouragement (written after the death of her son), Treasures of Faith (co-authored with husband, Chuck) and Treasures in Darkness, A Grieving Mother Shares Her Heart. Along with her writing, Sharon pours her passion to help others in her work for MARKINC Ministries, a non-profit she leads with her husband, Chuck.
Sharon started teaching women’s Bible studies in 1969 and has served on the women’s ministry team in every church her husband, Chuck, has pastored. Now she offers help and hope to others by not only writing but helping produce resources that tell redemption stories that help hurting people find purpose and joy in their life journeys.
Sharon says that every season of life brings new challenges and she is still learning that every relationship is a sand paper opportunity. Every mess up along the way is an opportunity to experience grace upon grace. She is committed to walking by faith in the love of Jesus, even if that means wrestling with God to reconcile His sovereignty and love when the lights in life go out. Sharon and her husband, Chuck, are committed to using every opportunity to call back to those coming behind them that God is sovereign and we can trust Him.
Sharon enjoys spending time with her fourteen grandchildren, cousins sleep overs and Cousins Camp, a week away with all the grands and their parents. Sharon also enjoys a round of golf with husband, Chuck, and the older she gets, long, laughter filled talk times with her four sisters
