Judges 1:1 After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?” Time and time again Israel turned its back on God and embraced the gods and ways of the Canaanites.Their whole world is centered around ‘me.’ The problem for Israel during the period of the Judges was its continual attraction to the Canaanite gods. There’s a bigger lesson we need to learn from the book of Judges. The book is not about the judges. It’s about the grace and mercy of God.
