CALL BACK is a poem Sharon Betters has often referred to through the platform of MARKINC. How people who had lost a loved one reached back into their pain to offer help to her and her husband, Chuck, when they lost their 16-year-old son, Mark, in a fatal car accident. This poem is a reminder to those who find themselves on the healing side of trauma and grief to ‘call back’ to those just starting on their horrific journey. It is a means to offer understanding, encouragement and hope to move forward in their pain. Calling back has a profound impact on the lives of those who are hurting because the one “calling back” is sharing from their personal experience of a similar dark pathway they have had to walk, offering practical guidance they have experienced to the person whose life has just been invaded with suffering.
