True Woman | When Your Soul Needs Rest
Twelve Days of Christmas Grief Relief - Day 10
Grief work is hard labor. Anticipating Christmas and then actually getting through the day with an empty seat at the family table or trying to put aside fear as you choose to focus on the "real reason for the season" rather than the unexpected lost job, terrifying doctor's diagnosis, a rebellious child, an alcoholic husband - you fill in the blank....if Christmas included any kind of stress like this, then mental and emotional exhaustion follows you around this week and insists that your body join their "party." We need to "find rest for our souls." Jani Ortlund, a pastor's wife, mother, grandmother and very wise woman shares some thoughts about finding and experiencing that rest. She focuses on two of my personally favorite scriptures. For those who can barely put one foot in front of the other - for whatever reason, take a few minutes to allow this spiritual mother to encourage you from afar.
