…but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
At the last minute, my friend couldn’t accompany me to the event where I was speaking but the two hours passed quickly as I drove and listened to inspirational music and mulled over my prepared message. One song, new to me, caught my attention and I played it over and over again. Soon tears streamed down my cheeks as the words took root in my heart. Why was I so moved by this particular song? Unbeknownst to me, God planted that song in my heart as preparation for what was to come. Several months later, its message carried me through the dark night of the soul in the months after the fatal car accident of our son and his friend. When I faltered in trusting God’s promises, He reminded me of these words: God will make a way, when there seems to be no way.
On what basis could I believe such a promise? In Today’s Treasure we read:
…but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
Let that Scripture sink in. Read it again. While I was still a sinner, helpless on my own, with no way to save myself, God showed His love for me by sending His only Son, Jesus, to take on my sin, to die for me, to rise again and conquer death. This God, the only God, will make a way for me when there seems to be no way. Do you know Jesus? Is He your Savior? Trust He will make a way for you, too.
God Will Make a Way
Don Moen
God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way
By a roadway in the wilderness, He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and Earth will fade but His Word will still remain
And He will do something new today
Oh, God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
LIFE-GIVING ENCOURAGEMENT
Read Chapter 1 in Harlots and Heroines, The Midwives of the Messiah and pay special attention to the significance of the word Yahweh. Understanding the use of this name of God in this story helps unlock the profound significance of Tamar’s story. Write in your journal: A gift that cannot be broken, God knows my name and He will make away when there seems to be no way.
