Sexual Abuse Interview

According to recent studies one in three women will experience some type of sexual abuse.  If this is true, then whenever women are present, it's possible that 33% of them carry wounds that are often hidden and denied.  I sometimes think about our congregation, that 1/3 of the women in this church family might be part of that secret sisterhood, many carrying scars that cover festering boils of fear, paranoia, and rage that has never been confronted.

This life anguish is in the front of my brain because tomorrow we will start production of a new resource on sexual abuse.  I will interview a woman whose father began abusing her when she was about five years old.  He continued this perversion in a full blown assault against her soul for many years.  I cannot get the picture of this little girl in the horrid hands of the man who should have been her safest place out of my mind.  Knowing the depth of her wounds makes her story all the more remarkable.

Please pray for us as we walk into the darkness of the past and explore the agony of sexual abuse.  But even more, pray as this woman declares the goodness of her Heavenly Father in the way that He is redeeming the broken places in her life.  She is a genuine picture of God transforming ashes into beauty.

Whenever someone trusts us with their life story, Chuck and I know we are on holy ground.  It is a fearsome thing to be entrusted with such transparent lives, it is humbling to know that God will use their stories to offer help and hope to others.  This resource will be a welcome addition to our Learning to See When the Lights Go Out Audio Library.

Again, please link shields with us through prayer, that God's grace and wisdom will direct our conversation and that one day, listeners will know that God had their hearts and needs in mind when we produced this resource.

In His grip,

Sharon
