Trauma Can Not Rob You of Your Intended Identity

Fawn Volkert

Fawn Volkert's journey from sexual abuse as an infant to trying anything and everything to survive to a place of joyful thriving will stay with you for a long time. Just when you think her story could not get any worse or even more compelling, Fawn takes us deeper into her journey to a place of healing and strength. In this conversation with Chuck L. Betters, Fawn shares how her story of trauma has formed her into the person she is today. Chuck and Fawn have a candid conversation, not only about her personal story but also about trauma responses, triggers, and how Jesus provides help and hope for all victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Fawn and Chuck discuss the lies that Satan tells us about who we were meant to be and how trauma distances us even further from the truth. They discuss how God desires to restore that which Satan has stolen and for those victimized to step back into their intended design. Fawn Volkert is the Program Director at Path2Freedom, a ministry designed to reach teenage girls rescued from human trafficking.

Fawn Volkert‘s Bio

As a result of childhood trauma, Fawn Volkert became a homeless, substance-abusing adult. Yet through some lingering grit and tenacity, she was able to earn a master’s degree, grow an executive-level career, and become a mother and a wife. Even after launching an advocacy group for victims of childhood sexual abuse, the effects of trauma still lorded over her life. Not one of those earthly accomplishments made her feel like God’s chosen handiwork, made in the image of Christ, designed to do the great works that God had already gone before her to prepare. She struggled to stand in the truth about who she was even after finding Jesus in my thirties.

Today, Fawn lives free from the effects of childhood sexual abuse and serves as the Program Director for Path2Freedom, a ministry to teenage girls rescued from human trafficking. She speaks in front of audiences fearlessly, provides a message of hope and healing to victims of sexual abuse, and coaches other women toward freedom. She is part of a team to bring the best in restorative services to child victims of sexual exploitation.
