The Reality of Infertility
Lorie Roe
In 2015 Reproductive Biological Endocrinology reported that 48.5 million couples globally experience infertility. No doubt all of us know of at least one couple who is struggling with how to navigate the maze of infertility treatments as well as the grief when nothing works. Or maybe you’re that person. Our guest today, Lorie Roe, knows this pathway very well because she learned when she was a teenager that she would never bear a child. In this transparent and sometimes emotional conversation, Lorie shares with co-hosts Sharon Betters and Jane Anne Wilson her struggle to understand God’s love and sovereignty as she surrendered her dreams to be a wife and mother. Though she thought that door was closed to her, in time, she discovered God’s grace in caring for mothers giving birth and celebrating their children. Years later, Lorie is married and raising two wonderful children.
Lorie’s story will encourage those who are struggling with infertility and equip family and friends to walk with them in this hard place.

Lorie Roe’s life changed at the young age of eight when God opened her eyes to the grace and peace that he offers through his Son, Jesus. Her early years were filled with serving in her church’s nursery and advocating for hurting children. At the age of 17, she learned that she would never have biological children, destroying her dreams of motherhood and making her question her future and every relationship with potential suitors. Through the loving grace of our Father and the mentoring of godly women in her life, she was able to walk through the darkness of infertility to embrace the journey that God planned for her.
Lorie is blessed to share her home with a loving husband, two teenage children, and three “frou-frou” dogs. She is a Registered Nurse who has worked in Neurosurgical Critical Care and Women’s Health. Lorie is a member of Providence Church in Frisco, Texas, and works at Providence Academy. She is passionate about spreading the good news of Jesus and has had the privilege to serve in missions alongside indigenous missionaries in several unreached nations.
