Worship

Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!
Psalm 34;3
Dear Friends,
What is worship? Genuine, true worship? Is it an action, experience, choice, emotion? What or who do we worship? In this week’s devotionals, guest writer Sue Tell takes us with her on her quest for finding answers to these questions. In Saturday’s devotional she says:
Tucked safely in my pocket, my question traveled with me for years.
What is worship?
How do I worship?
What does it mean to worship?
And my more recent question, what does living with expectancy mean?
I'm pretty sure I don't have the complete answers yet. I’m on a journey. (Sue Tell, What She Said Series, Part 9)
The Lord used a writing conference in Alaska to not only hone Sue’s writing skills, but take her deeper into the meaning of worship. She describes how she began to see the difference between expectations and expectancy in worship. How expectancy transforms our worship experience, and how living with expectancy makes us ever alert to reasons for worship.
You may recognize Sue’s name – she was one of the first What She Said series guest writers. I interviewed Sue for the Help & Hope podcast on the topic of helping her husband Bill deal with debilitating depression: Walking into the Darkness. Chuck interviewed Sue’s husband Bill about his battle with deep depression: Dark Cloud of Depression.
In this hurry up, fast-paced world, where we cling to expectations, we often miss out on the countless treasures surrounding us, designed by our God, to turn our hearts toward Him in worship and gratitude for His love. We live with expectations that often are never achieved, instead of expectancy for the Lord to keep the promise of His presence in surprising, beautiful ways.
As we begin the first week of our What She Said Summer Series, Part 9, take some time to walk with Sue this week and as you do, live with the expectancy that though you may not be in the wilderness of Alaska, the Lord has scattered unnumbered gifts in your pathway, some that might need a little searching to discover, each one for the purpose of reminding you that He is your God and He calls you by name.
Treasured by Him,
Sharon
